bathroom buddy

i was ill again last night. i'm not sure what is going on with my gut. i'm really not enjoying it. it's reminiscent of the start of 1998.

snowy told me last week she reckons it's the water. that lots of people who aren't normally sick or nauseous are recently. i don't want to believe that because then i'll get all paranoid about drinking water.

but i'm disappointed i didnt get much sleep. because today and tomorrow are big days. and the last thing i need is to have no energy and only be eating plain foods.

i am happy with the bourne ultimatum

i liked things blowing up, fight scenes, bits of suspense but not too much, pulling things together, tricky things. it was a good movie. i was happy with the ending. i will be happy to buy it on DVD and complete my bourne collection.

stuffed

i ate way too much food last night. we had spag bol, which is always a big serving because it's in big bowls and i forget that more fits into big bowls. but i also grazed before that forgetting i was having a big dinner. and then howie made muffins after dinner and i refilled the skittles machine.

but the muffin i ate was the straw that broke the camel's back. it was a nice muffin, but i then got a bad tummy ache.

and that continued into the night. it did relent a bit which allowed me to sleep. but i'm still feeling a bit seedy and full.

this morning, as i approached my car ready to head off to work i noticed something was a little different to normal, something a little funny

so i headed back inside to wake up howie (who's feeling a bit sickly today) and brought him out for a look. he admired someone's handiwork before he packed the cones away and i continued on my way.

he has two suspects. and i agree with his suspicions. who do you suppose it was?

most of me is very glad that howie's dentist adventures were mostly uneventful. uneventfulness means not super spensy.

but there's a little bit of me that thinks that if something had been amiss that he'd realise he needs to go to the dentist more than once every 10 years.

what's fun is that the dentist knew all about howie because he is our family dentist. he said that if dad ever gives howie trouble to let him know and he'll pull a few extra teeth out of dad's head.

tv dvds

we're spending our evenings watching 'thank god you're here' after debbie gave howie season two for his birthday. we had been watching the new chaser dvd but that got bumped for some reason. i'm not the biggest fan of the show, but i like bob franklin, josh lawson and angus sampson. they are good at it. so's matthew newton actually. but it's the kind of thing that sometimes i don't want to watch because it's embarrassing. i'm not really sure why i feel embarrassed when someone is doing a crap job. must be sympathy embarrassment.

i'm looking forward to when the next season of las vegas is out at video ezy. that will mean late nights, but oh so good ones. it's way better watching it on dvd than on tv (which is currently is on thursday nights) because we can feed our addiction for hours at a time.

my daddy was meant to come home today. but i got three smses overnight.

~ the first told me he was about to leave LA and that he'll see me in 24 hours

~ the second told me he was back in LA after 30 minutes of flight because of a pressure problem and he didn't think he'd make his connecting flight from hawaii

~ the third told me he has leaving LA, would be first class to hawaii, then economy for the rest, and their plane had changed airlines. he's meant to be back 6:50am tomorrow

not sure what that means for someone picking him up from the airport. my mum had most of last week off work sick. hopefully she can scab another morning off, as well as the friday she wants off this week too.

the things you do

i just had my first ever microwave meal. i had lean cuisine honey soy beef. it wasn't too bad. bit saucy. but i'm not planning on having such a meal ever again.

the deal was that birthday boy got to pick what dinner was. i was thinking maybe gourmet pizza, maybe hogs breath, maybe italian. in the end he went with mccains chicken parmigana. easy to please isn't he. i think it might be the first microwave meal he's had since we were married.

at least for dessert we are having viennetta. i'm down with that!

i'm always up for a $10 DVD, and fortunately there are a few retailers around the place who indulge me in my bad habit. so the other day we bought three kings and i bought speed (note that i, not we, bought it). this afternoon before heading off to homebush with a bus full of teenagers i'm watching speed. it's the film where i think keanu is a hottie.

for the last few months, i've been subtley trying to get gold digger back into the number two spot of our top tracks overall on lastfm. this means rorting party shuffle in itunes. i still have a fair way to go. i have no intention whatsoever of knocking off darcy though.

thursday special

we had gozleme for lunch today. it was bonza. the hornsby mall thursday markets gozleme people make the best we've ever had. we ate it in the foodcourt. that made it even more special for Howie i'm sure. he got to buy a buddy.

5 a day

i cooked dinner like a real wife tonight. i don't know why i think having vegetables with dinner makes me a real wife, but it does. we really should eat more vegetables. it wasn't a complete success of a dinner. half of it was rushed (the schnitzel) and half of it was overdone (the potatoes). but the broccoli was good! howie even ate it. tender value meats makes a good chicken schnitzel.

howie is now doing the washing up. good man.

i'm watching RPA. i used to watch it all the time, but haven't for a few years. it's pretty full on isn't it. i wonder if in the scheme of things i'll ever have to have major surgery.

could make a dent

the other night, i randomly asked howie "do you want me to book you an appointment at my dentist?". i thought i would be rejected once again, as this is become the pattern in recent years. i ask about a dentist, he says no.

surprisingly he said "ok". i couldn't believe it.

so i made him an appointment today for monday afternoon.

he hasn't been to the dentist for 10 years.

i feel our bank account cringing already.

it's pretty stupid that america's healthcare system is so screwed. stupid and sad. and it seems a pretty huge thing to ever be overhauled, even if the powers that be decided to attempt it.

if australian healthcare starts creeping that way, i'd be happy to move to london and live under NHS. or maybe cuba. but even with things being so good in france, i don't want to ever live there.

night out with the girl

i'm off to the movies soon with debsy to see sicko. it's fun hanging out with my sister. and seeing movies on tuesdays is fun. and cheap.

something for everyone

tonight on enough rope we have 'kenny' (appealing to howie) and the waifs (appealing to jenny and howie). the waifs are a pleasant surprise! cool!

tonight we had some people over for dinner as part of a work thing. it was quite a nice evening with bel, alan and judy. we ate lots of yummy homemade greek food.

i am very impressed with my greek salad. it's a winner. it's a shame howie doesn't like fetta, dressing or red onion. but i made him his own little serving. just tomato, cucumber, olives and capsicum. special.

APEC ruins everything

we have been planning for a number of months to book a yummy and expensive 1st wedding anniversary dinner at centrepoint tower, but didn't even think about the fact that APEC is on. the restaurant is closed that whole weekend! APEC has ruined our 1st wedding anniversary!

not really. now we have to think of something else. howie is suggested dinner in an F1 bistro. no deal! do F1's even have bistros?

hopes and dreams

i'm making a greek salad for a dinner at our place tomorrow for work, and i can't wait! all the ingredients look really yummy and i love greek salad. i hope my own handiwork lives up to my greek salad tastiness expectations!

i should go wake up my husband. it's nearly church time. my success rate in the waking at this time on a sunday and getting him to go to church is not particularly high. but we shall see how we go...

hunted

i am so freakin brave!

here we are, just sitting in our lounge room on a saturday afternoon, me on the couch preoccupied with facebook and howie sitting at the coffee table editing some image in lappy.

something moves in the corner of my eye, to my left and behind howie, on the doona that's sitting on the couch.

after a double take i realise it's a freakin huntsman, freakin huge and freakin scary, and i jump about two metres to my right, whilst telling howie to hurry up and get up and move.

he didn't know what the fuss was but like a good husband was obedient, and joined me as i explained to him there was a freakin big spider centimetres from his head. i then took him for a better view of the creature. he had to go pee.

i got a container out of the cupboard and was man of the house. i caught the spider, took a photo, and then took him outside and put him in the neighbours hedge.

i discovered this is a good container for any future spider capturing and releasing. it's got a good sized diameter and is quite deep, reducing the risk of any spider contact.

but adrenaline is still running through my veins i tells ya!

i had hoped for a nice sunny saturday to help dry my washing, give the boys some UV and go on a fun outdoors adventure! ah well. hopefully it will rain and make the clouds worthwhile.

this weekend is going to be awesome. besides church on sunday night, absolutely nothing is planned. oh yeh!

people have such different ideas and tastes. makes life more difficult than it has to be sometimes. you can never please everyone. but then, wanting to please the majority sometimes bombs out too, coz the majority is wrong! in my head anyway.

i'm sure an almost 5-hour nap in the middle of today won't hinder my sleeping attempts tonight.

but i was so wasted by the pramin - i think coz i had an empty stomach. i don't feel so dopey now. tired still, but not so dopey.

well that wasn't a very fun night.

went to bed, and almost immediately had that awful urge to be sick. just afer libby and i had been talking about it a few hours ago!

lay there resisting the urge, while it washed over me time and time again. i had my usual shakes, which weren't all that helpful for howie trying to sleep.

at about 2pm i started to feel a bit better, but was still worried of waking up and being covered in my own vomit. so i didn't get much sleep last night.

what is wrong with my body! i had chicken for dinner, maybe it was that. i had a pear yesterday which i didnt wash, maybe it was that. but seriously, i've eaten worse things in my life!

precious lifelong friends are gold. libby came over tonight, for dinner, for catchup, for tunes, for laughter, for storytelling. at the moment our catch ups are too few and far between, but it does make it special to spend time together.

i am grateful for the good friends that i have in my life.

sad making is that four pairs of my pants, of which i like all of them, have all died at the same time! two identical pairs of jeans and two identical pairs of brown cargo pants. what am i going to do now?

he's baaaaack

today was pretty cruisey, just spending time with howie, catching up on the last few weeks, visiting westie, sitting around, doing washing, all such things. we also invited ourselves to dinner at mum's with her and debbie.

now we'll soon be going to beddy byes. it's been a long day.

ins and outs

had a happy lunch with my mum's family today - debs, me, mum, gma, gpa and sue. it was yummy the old roast chicken and vegetable, followed by waffles, icecream and caramel sauce. and there was much talking. my grandparents are indeed the coolest.

got a text from howie about his body - which i then read about here. poo bum wee. more emphasis on the first two i guess! i hope he gets better before getting on his flight. i'm sure there are worse things in the world than diarrhoea on a plane, but still, it'd probably be up there in the list of things that suck.

i really would just like him to be home now. his job is done and it's just 12 198.8275kms standing in the way of him being back here. and him being sick makes it sadder.

dear God, please make Howie's body better.

oh when the saints

tonight was good fun. mum, debs, me, lachie and will headed off to the swans vs saints game at telstra. mum was dad and will was howie. we went a bit early so we could see the field of women thing. it was pretty cool - they hit the 13000 target - it was mammoth! i dare say a fair bit of money was raised tonight, including the $500 for every swans goal!

it was a night of hilarity too - lots of laughs, yelling, laughs, stories and good times. oh, and laughs.

super tired now. looking forward to another sleep in, potentially.

my grandma had a fall at home and is now in hospital in taree. she had xrays which showed a complete, clean break in her femur, and they will operate on tuesday.

looks like she was a bit naughty and not using her stick to get down a small step onto the back sunroom. she tried to do the same thing when we visited her last month. naughty girl.

i'm a bit worried for my dad, who's in mexico, because he'll probably be really worried when he finds out tomorrow. my dad's family, particularly him and his brothers, is pretty close-knit and likes to be together in times of trouble/crisis. so yeh. if you're of the praying persuasion, would mind sending up a couple for my grandma? she's cool. her name is peggy.

woooo die hard 4.0!!

i loved it. i am totally biased because i love die hards, but i loved it. john mcclane is cool. and 'i'm a mac' guy was good too. so was baddie man - i liked him in gone in 60 seconds.

i laughed in all the right places. and waited for the inevitable unexpected surprise parts. and thought that the fighter jet bit was a bit stupid. but it was cool.

and seeing the bourne ultimatum trailer beforehand got me further excited.

the only down side was that 10 minutes into the movie i really needed to pee. but i'm glad i held it coz i wouldn't have wanted to miss any of it. i'm sure i'll regret it, but what's a UTI every now and then.

can't wait to get a die hard box set one day. way cooler than my lethal weapon one.

i just discovered that one of the old ladies here at work is in love with johnny depp (and why wouldn't you be!)

she fell in love with him in chocolat - "he was gorgeous... anyway, he's too young". but i find it so cool that she's seen all the pirate movies and loved them, as well as neverland, and charlie & the chocolate factory.

i had a fabulous time with erin tonight. we enjoyed a good dinner, and LOTS of stories from the past 18 months-2 years. naughty us being so slack in catching up with each other!! i miss her, so it was lovely to see her. we're hopeful to stay in better contact than random messages on msn and sms.

so mumma and debs are going to come over and help me eat the food i'm cooking. good on them. for once, they get a free meal in this relationship. although debbie always gets free meals.

i'm not using my car today. i need to pick something up in the city, so i'm going to train it in. then i have to go back to work, so i'll train it to waitara coz that line is much better and walk to work. then after work i'll walk home rather than buy a ticket for one station. if only all train stations were as close as thornleigh and pennant hills. but alas, they aren't.

i just fed the boys dinner, and ham mistook piney's neck as food and latched on. poor piney! i haven't been able to inspect for any damage as yet, because he retreated to the apartment with his food.

it's cleaning morning

i need motivation. one thing at a time.

i have two loads of washing to put away, clean the bathroom, vacuum the house, clean the boys tank, and do some washing up. that order works for me i think.

my throats feeling a tiny bit croaky. hope that's not a sign of bad things to come!

today i got to help lead a workshop for something that's a big part of my job. i was leading with brenton, who is a top bloke. and what makes him more tops is that he did most of the talking. sweet deal!

i also got to spend time with my good friend pete. hi pete. i know you're reading this!

and i got to hang out with phoebe a bit, which was good fun and very cute.

also heard from howie this afternoon and evening - they stayed the night in nairobi after all. and then were planning to leave for the 8 hour drive when he messaged me at 4pm. i then got a message at 7pm saying they were finally leaving. good old 'african time'. it's kinda like 'greek time' and 'christian time' but on a whole new level.

no saturday sleep-in today!

i'm feeling incredibly tired this morning. and cold. my dream as i was woken by my alarm involved a huge case of vertigo. so that left me a little disorientated.

in half an hour i'm driving to kurrajong for a work thing. hopefully i'm more alive then. maybe i'll slap myself a few times around the head. that's sure to work.

i got an sms from howie at 2:45am saying they'd landed in nairobi. now i shall assume they are still travelling overland to kitale. i do hope that they get phone reception and/or internet access so we know they are alive. yes i do.

tonight i farewelled my father who leaves tomorrow for almost four weeks. he's off to the US and Mexico, part holiday, part mission trip. he was a nicely protective father and drove me home just now, so i didn't walk home in the dark and get mugged and kidnapped.
