one freaking point. damn the weagles.
and the weagles supporter man sitting in front of us wasn't very nice. he went off at us, swearing, called sam a d*ckhead and told him he had no class, all because we were talking about icecream.
now sam knew nothing about what had been happening for the weagles in preseason (ie. ben cousins spectacular boo boos). and it took me a while to realise that this guy must have been a little sensitive to the word "ice". but for a long time into the accusations we had no idea what he was going on about - "you know what you were talking about" - what the hell??
there was a good sign some young guys held up "You're flying high, and now we know why". hehe. he didn't go yell at them though did he!
all in a good night out at the footy.
the annual-except-for-last-year photo rally saw us driving all over the place last night, taking photos of all kinds of weird and wonderful things. good fun. almost 400 pics! (between 10 groups)
i've never seen so many tadpoles together in one place at one time. it was the year of the tadpole. and the year of caring who wins! normally, we drive around taking photos and doing things for "points" but it's never added up and a winner never really announced. it's just for fun.
not this year. everyone wanted to know who won, and when it would be announced, and what the prize will be. and when i'd be screening the photos on the big screen. and asking me clarifications on the list of things. and telling me other teams petrol dockets shouldn't count (Will!!). ah the joy.
good thing youth group isn't back for another four weeks. hopefully they all will have forgotten by then. less work for me.
i could count the number of times i've been to chatwood on one hand. and after today, it would still be using one hand, but if i went again, i'd probably have to start using my other hand.
we had a day off and no car, so we trained it to chatswood for a wander around westfield, some lunch, some chai, some donuts, and some chatswood chase (i don't think i was all that welcome in my ripped jeans).
then we went back to penno to pick up my serviced car. on the way we stopped at blockbuster and picked up 'las vegas' season 3 DVDs for $2 each. we have a slight addiction to this show.
then tonight we had hamburgers at mum and dad's and cracked open the monopoly game we bought for $7.71 from target today. and i won. boo yeh!! my parents are good fun. and we discovered they like howie's headlines. don't we all.
now back to las vegas.
anyone care to admit they pick their nose?
i ask because i often see drivers having a go. and it stirred my curiousity today. i haven't had a pick since at least my mid-school-years. it just doesn't appeal to me. not that i think people do it because of appeal. i wonder why people do it. do you think it's a habit thing?
michael left a CD of photos from the wedding in our letterbox last night.
i very much like his photos. very very much. thankyou michael!!
i think i like this one the most

and shortly after this one was taken, they did actually drop me

and this is a nice one of us isn't it

seeing more photos from other peoples perspectives is good fun. even this many months later. you can see more here
tomorrow is wednesday. that is good news because it's the halfway point of the week. and because the chaser is back in the evening.
but in spite of all that good news, thursday is the good day this week. day off. can't wait.
keith and stella came over for dinner tonight. as i'm sure we're all well aware, they are good people. we enjoyed some chips, cheese, chicken, conversation, as well as some ben folds and U2. and i got to make a kick arse salad. i'm excited to eat the rest of it tomorrow.
i think i would like to be able to invite people over more. it seems that our schedule isn't all that accomodating for that purpose. we have dinner at a different time every night, if we have it at all. our weekends are either packed or empty. and often others have the same circumstances, making it difficult to find an agreeable time slot.
but i can think of lots of people i would like to have over for dinner or lunch or drinks or fun. actually fun would hopefully be included in all those occasions. i would like to take advantage of the house we're living in now, because who knows what our next place will be like (one bedroom flat is seeming the most affordable option).
but besides the next few months being out, when are you free??
another day another dollar. although that isn't at all true. i spent $15 and about 100km worth of fuel. sweet sweet work-related expenses.
i am glad that daylight savings is ending. not for anything more than the fact i get an hour extra sleep tonight. otherwise i have mixed feelings about the onset of cold mornings.
that being said, i'm looking forward to tomorrows expected nippiness. perhaps it will be a snuggle up in the doona in trackies watching a dvd type day. perhaps.
we have a full day of work tomorrow. i have a role that i've never had before. that's a little scary. it's also going to be a hot day. i don't enjoy heat.
and i stuffed up something which is resolvable but not ideal. thats a bit disappointing.
tonight should be fun. gap people are good fun.
i hope it is followed by good sleeping. oh yeh.
good on woolies having a sale when we needed it. 18 pack coke varieties $8.99. we're stocked up good.
another $6 movie. makes me happy

husband and i ventured to hornsby this evening for a very loud movie. it really was loud. i don't know what the cinema was thinking. it hurt my ears.
anyway, back to the film. what a strange movie. i didn't laugh as much as i think the script would have liked me to, but i did laugh. i averted my eyes a bit too in the more ridiculously graphic parts. not really my cup of tea, but i wasn't angry to see it.
looking forward to oceans 13. a bit nervous of shooter. i think the suspense will be too much for me.
sometimes it's hard to feel like a good wife when you have a lot of nights out of home for meetings or other occasions, and so there isn't time to cook a real dinner. like tonight is pizza pockets. last night was jaffles. at least tomorrow night i'm making spag bol. and thursday dinners are usually substantial. life should be less packed so cooking is more convenient.
we just watched borat. oh dear. must admit i laughed a fair bit. but some bits were a bit erk, and/or cringey. i can understand people being offended.
but my oh my, only in america.
today we took a little walk
caught the train from hornsby to north sydney...
...to take part in the celebrations of the harbour bridges 75th birthday
we even got free hats
it was pretty cool watching the sea of bright yellow caps fill the road across the bridge
it's a pretty awesome structure
i found a few coins that have become a part of the bridge
here we are
a fun reflective train piccie
and we continued on through to darling harbour
i'm not sure if the trains were obedient
at darling harbour there was a bunch of stuff happening. howie got a tattoo from the ABC stand. how cool is he!
it was a good day out. and not too crowded, it all flowed pretty well. people were enjoying themselves and taking lots of photos!
i guess we do it all again in 25 years!
howie and i got altitude sickness at enmore last night. our seating allocations were so very strange, as you can see here (we're the red circle, and the striked out seats around us were all empty).
I'm not quite sure how their seat allocation system works, but i think it may need some attention.
ross was all the way down there
but he was damn funny. he's very clever and quick. and i will see him again one day. maybe even from a slightly nearer view.
that's what we like to see
a cheeky look if ever i saw one
she didn't care much for the singing and just wanted some cake!
tabitha's first birthday (photos to come)
my first ross noble live experience (damn good!! story and photos to come)
my first time of locking my keys in the house. oh the fun. all the windows of our house are locked. as were all the doors. my keys inside, howie's keys inside. on our way to enmore. rang my dad for a ladder, and we broke in through the bathroom. the one not as locked/inaccessible window as any other. gotta go buy a new fly screen now.
and just the other day i was talking about how i couldn't understand how people locked their keys in their cars. shame on me.
jam packed weekend coming your way. well my way.
tabitha's 1st birthday party starts right about now.
ross noble is entertaining us with his comedic genius tonight.
sleep will be good in preparation for a big day of birthday celebrations of the harbour bridge. i don't really care that it's the harbour bridge's birthday. but it's fun to be a part of something biggish and take photos and such things. hopefully we don't get squished into little squished people by all the crowds.
i don't like crowds.
and then back to work on monday.
oh how we need the three day weekend. what ever happened to the "Three Day Weekend Party"?
i sat on the couch with a cold can of pepsi max, cracked it open and it fizzed all over me. for many many seconds. half the can ended up in my lap. fortunately husband jumped to action grabbing paper towel and tea towel and there was little spillage on things that matter - carpet and couch. sure it was all over me. but i'm washable. thanks pepsi.
today consisted of sleeping in
then thinking of what to do with the day
then going to hornsby to check mail, get a DVD and buy lunch
we had gozleme - yum!

oh it's just so yummy
then was watched 'little miss sunshine'. i like it. it was funny and strange
afterwards there was a nap
followed by dinner prep
my family came over for some oriental chicken noodles. my mum said it was yummier than hers even though i use the same recipe!
family stayed a while which was nice. conversing and watching jamie cullum, and then some sons of korah.
now it is random night-time time. watching sons still. on our computers. eating apple mentos. the usual.
and unlike the usual, here is unusual photo of my husband

although, knowing my husband, it's not that unusual after all.
one year old today, miss tabitha wade. happy birthday little one!!

this photo is about six months old. so she must look twice that now. that's how it works isn't it?
Matthew 17:20
"I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
"The simple truth is that if you had a mere kernel of faith, a poppy seed, say, you would tell this mountain, 'Move!' and it would move. There is nothing you wouldn't be able to tackle."
"I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible."
"for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."
"But I can promise you this. If you had faith no larger than a mustard seed, you could tell this mountain to move from here to there. And it would. Everything would be possible for you."
"for truly I say to you, if you have faith that is living like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to yonder place, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you"
"or verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."
I want to be someone who has faith, even as small as a mustard seed. God knows what's best and works for the good of those who love Him. Who want what he want. And I hope I want what He wants this evening.
We wait with bated breath.
now, it must first be said that when greater union is having a $6 ticket day, it is expected that you go see whatever is screening. beggars cannot be choosers.
with that in mind, we saw music & lyrics tonight

now i like a bit of drew barrymore. hugh grant is the same in every movie ever. it was hollywood fluff. but for $6 who cares.
we had initially chosen the queen, but the cinema it was screening in was having technical difficulties. thanks hornsby.
since about 2pm yesterday, until 5:30pm today, 1072 newsletters have passed through my hands:
782 have been stuffed into DL envelopes with a folded A5 flyer (300 or so of those had another DL flyer as well)
- 745 of them have been put in the australia post trays ready for posting tomorrow, 140 per tray
- 37 of them will be hand delivered
290 have been slotted into B4 envelopes, 10 per envelope plus a cover letter
- 25 of them were posted today
- 4 of them will be hand delivered
postage will equal $436.45
i have three paper cuts. two of them are in the same place.
it's a pretty mammoth job every three months. but i got there.
i saw a flyer up on the bus stop near hornsby station saying "would you stuff 1000 envelopes for $1000" ... hell yes. i even do it for free!
oh i love coconut. we had a jamaican themed thing for work last night, and so there was coconut. of course. i still have about half a coconut to eat, coz howie doesn't like it. yum yum yum for my tum tum tum

we've spent time together six times over the last three days. and i've given him $13.20. i reckon that makes us good buddies. although i am quite happy not to see him for a while again.
the air is so still tonight. i am hopeful it will start moving soon, care of a southerly. oh how i love southerlies.
one of the shrub type native plants in our yard has died. one of those storms a few weeks ago knocked it over, and we thought it was ok until i went to attach it to a stake, and the whole thing came out. whoops. at least it was the storms fault and not ours.
i also discovered that i have a slight allergy to some thing or things in our garden. i've had some nice rashes on my arms over the weekend. must have inherited that from my mother. i shall have to be more careful around natives.
today was very hot up in the mountains. but it was nice to farewell a family who we like. that is a strange sentence.
i hope for good sleep tonight. i'm very tired. and the heat is seeming to cause me to be unmotivatable. yes. this week is looking a little long.
tonight we saw wild hogs

this is number two to tick off the "to see" list. i liked the movie. it's not up there in the top whatever, but it was entertaining for me. i like people like martin lawrence (in small and appropriate doses), john travolta, and tim allen. i laughed a fair bit. not as much as everyone else in the cinema seemed to, but enough. a lot of predictibility, unrealisticality, riding, scenery and a bit of slapstick chucked in too. some of the cringeworthy stuff was a bit over the top. but what are you gonna do.
and all for $9 each. ahhh.
workies today. a team thing. at least not anywhere near as stressful as running a youth event. joy is in the fact that it means we will have thursday off.
last night's gap was fun. and nice and chilled towards the end. so much laughter during one of the games though. we have some very dramatic people in our midst.
i'd like to get out in the garden a bit this weekend. but there isn't all that much available time. we'll see how it goes.
off to blacktown we go.
people just don't seem to be as committed to things anymore.
it's a shame. too many other things on, with the potential of "something better" coming up at the last minute. instant society. all that.
i don't think i've fallen into that 'catagory' yet. i hope i never do.
god bless ebay.
this little beauty was part of a book promo and never went on sale. i never took part in the promo, and therefore never got the book. but through the wonders of ebay, my library is complete*.

*this statement is for dramatic effect. in no way do i have a good, let alone complete, collection of books
i'm not sure why my parents decided that both sets of my sister and my grandparents were to be called grandma and grandpa. understandably it makes things a little complicated at times. but i can't imagine calling any of them an alternate grandparent title.
what are/were your grandparents... nan? nanna? grandma? granny? pa? pop? grandpa?
i am really hopeful that one day i will be able to travel again to the UK and parts of Europe purely for the sake of travel. this world is so big, there is so much to see! for some reason i like seeing the things i want to see, that i've already seen, again and again. nostalgia over adventure in some ways i suppose.
i'm a sucker for "nothing over $10" advertisements in clothing shops.
howie has come up with a new policy. if we buy a new article of clothing, we have to give another away to an op shop. i can live with that. although i bought three new articles today before the policy officially came into effect. not sure where that leaves me.
we just had lunch with my grandparents. twas nice. lots of conversations about lots of different topics. they are good value. and my grandma is a good cook.
after the day of cleaning and fun (although the two are well combined!), this evening, husband and i took advantage of greater union's month of movie goodness, and saw man of the year for $9 each.

it was a pretty good film. funny bits. serious bits. suspense bits. i'm a bit skeptical of robin williams generally, he doesn't always do it for me. but it was good. so one of the four movies i'm planning on seeing in the near future is ticked off. go team.
today was cleaning day. well cleaning morning. i like cleaning day. it means the boys get to go outside for some sun. and it means things are clean.
the afternoon held adventures with sister and husband. the good news is that she finally got her new car - christened 'bubblegum'. the not as good news was the lengthy, stupid process it took to finally receive the car. but we won't go into that.
we went on a celebratory drive, as you must with the arrival of a new car

it was fun to hang out with my sister. we have much too busy lives.

we went to pie in the sky. what a good idea. i had me a beef pie. there was no chicken left at all! so howie had beef too. debs went a sausage roll.

in total unrelatedness to pies or sausage rolls, we pulled strange faces

and then we had icecream at brooklyn. i ate mine too fast, so it didn't star in the photo

and back to our place to partake in some singstar.
howie finally reached the singstar milestone. he was damn excited!

good job howie.
last night was one of those big combined baptist youth things. there was a lot of people. all in our church auditorium. and it sure got hot. like really really hot. it got to the point were more people were outside than inside. it reinforced in my mind that air conditioning is more than a luxury. i am leaning towards necessity.
that being said, the heat didn't take anything away from the topness of the night. it was pretty good. and the change of seating venue from previous similar events meant my hearing felt less destroyed. and i didn't even need to take advantage of this
i decided last night i would like to do a family tree, so i started asking mum and dad questions about their families. mum was hopeless. but grandma and grandpa were a little more helpful today, which was helpful funnily enough.
they also pointed me in the direction of one of my third cousins who has done a family tree for my grandpa's family. so pilfering info off other people looks like the way to go. i think my dad's mum also has a family tree for that side. so i'm halfway there!
there are some quality olden-days names in my family even from just two generations ago: mavis, alice, phyllis, theodora, lionel, stella, arthur, victor, noelene, edna, the list goes on.
names are funny things.
speaking of tubs of things, yesterday i bought a 1kg tub of ski d'lite vanilla creme yoghurt. oh i'm so excited. i love this yoghurt. there is no other yoghurt for me.
yoghurt is a funny word. apparently it's turkish.
the tub does restrict me to home eating though. and i often forget to eat things at home. well, things i'm meant to remember to eat. like vegetables, or hommus, or chicken. but hopefully my excitement for yoghurt is greater than my excitement for hommus. although my excitement for hommus is quite considerable as well.
