i've converted to being a blistex fruit smoothies girl - but much more a fan of melon medley than berry explosion. too much berry.

me one

it is now 32 days until U2. howie and i managed to watch Bono on 60 minutes last night. i do like Bono, although admittedly not as much as howie or tom do

anyway, the concert footage sort of got me freaking out. i don't know if i can go through with going to the concert. i don't like crowds and the idea of being stuck in the middle of that throng of people just makes my brain want to explode, and my body run away! so i'm not sure how i'm going to make it. maybe i'll pass my ticket on to someone more deserving, and spend the night at home watching U2 DVDs

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

movement

i need to get some new cross trainers. shame they're so expensive.

last night i broke a really nice photoframe by knocking it off my wardrobe in my sleep. that's sad. i think mum and dad both got up to see what the noise was, but i wasn't all that fussed.

another week. wonder how it will feel different with no cafe?!

i should have some breakfast.

i think my attention span has gone to the dogs. i'm not quite sure why.

i would like to watch less television. not that i watch much really, but sometimes it's just on, and i shoul use time more wisely or funly.

friday yay

it's been a rather emotional week. well sort of. maybe kinda.

in any case, i was quite affected by a doco i watched on two pairs of sisters in the UK who suffer from Harlequin Ichthyosis. with this disease you grow as much skin over night as a "normal" person would in two weeks. so it's very tight, cracks and then is susceptible to infection. it's a one in a million disease. and most newborns die within a few days.

HarlequinSisters.jpg

these girls, lucy (18) & hannah (15) betts, and dana (8) & tara (18 months) bowen, each have their own daily ritual, along with their mothers help, of an hour or so bath in the morning scrubbing off the excess skin, then creaming themselves all over. they continue to cream up a few more times in the day, before another bath in the evening, and more creaming. the older three all attend mainstream school. and it was just crazy. i still get teary thinking particularly of little tara. so yes, i didn't sleep very well that night. and it got me thinking lots about different things.

then yesterday was the last cafe. no tears, but it's still pretty sad. it's sad to not see so many of the young people we've come to know and love as regularly anymore.

and i'm doing the talk tonight at GAP. which is always quite draining preparing for that.

plus howie still being sick.

and the usual frustrations, joys and in betweens of life.

but hey.

oranges

i think that no matter what games i do at GAP, it will always descend into madness, and i think it's because there are teenage boys. last night was oranges, the time before that was eggs. hmmmm, maybe i should stop taking food items for games. it's the first time i remember opening the first aid kit at GAP - five people. whoops. but it was a lot of fun. good old GAP. it's fun too coz sam and matt are there now. not that i really see them, but it's nice.

gotta watch that gravel

there was an article in the paper yesterday about a lady who was trapped in her car for two hours after crashing off an embankment on nowendoc road, 2km out from mount george. this is exactly the gravel road we were driving on on sunday!! i'm not surprised it happened - we drove past a car that must've rolled off the road years ago. it wouldn't be hard to do! poor lass was sent to the spinal unit at royal north shore.

meanwhile, the rain yesterday gave me an opportunity to clean the dust off the back of my car. there i was in my raincoat, with a chux. much easier than having to use a bucket.

point form

- last night with joshy and howie was tops, if not cold

- why, if you feel the urge to sneeze, does looking at light make it come sooner than it may otherwise?

- still with the sniffliness

- didn't get much sleep again last night

- wondering if glandular fever is like frodo's injury, where he still experiences pain each anniversary. no sleep. a cold. i'm waiting to wake up with big puffy eyes

- happy valentine's day

tripping

back home in old sydney town. duckie, howie and i had quite the adventure from armidale to old bar to sydney, involving lots of 100 km/hr roads, and 55km of gravel road!!! oh boy! we took a "shortcut" at Nowendoc that was in fact a shortcut in distance, but we're not so sure about shortcut in time. it was heaps of fun, if not a bit scary, driving along so much gravel road, winding our way around and down the hills. i was so excited to come back to sealed road at Mount George! and duckie sure needs a clean now!

we visited my grandparents in old bar, which was nice. it was fun to catch up with them, and to see that my grandpa is going ok. and to drive around town and relive a bit of my childhood.

then we made it from old bar to sydney in three hours! naughty me didn't stop and revive, but i survived so it's all good.

pretty tired though. hoping i'm not getting a cold back. and worried about the boy who is again feeling unwell. stupid infection or whatever it is.

today's fun musics were:

Various - In the Name of Love
Bernard Fanning - Tea & Sympathy
Cat Empire - Two shoes
John Mayer - Room for squares
Jamie Cullum - twenty something
DC Talk - Jesus Freak
PC3 - live electric

the last two were very good at avoiding microsleeps.

a good innings

nan loved her birthday party. she's so funny. i love how she's so rude to howie. me thinks me know partly where he gets it from!

i am glad that we came up. i am so so full though now. i never knew you could feel so stuffed just from pastry, fruit, cheese, lemonade and cake.

and tomorrow we get to visit her again before heading home. we'll also visit my grandparents in old bar along the way. well kinda. we'll make it along the way.

good old country roads.

as promised

coming to you live from maccas armidale, and isn't it good to be back

i always have very vivid dreams when i'm in armidale

and as howie mentioned, we are up here for his Nan's 90th birthday party. i like howie's nan

the trip up here was uneventfully good. we stopped at different places to last time, and took photos, and listened to fun musics:

John Mayer - Any given thursday (disc 1 partial)
Michael Jackson - number ones
The Waifs - A brief history... (disc 1)
Ben Harper - Live from mars (disc 1)
Jamie Cullum - Catching tales
The collection that is howie (partial)

now i bid you adieu. i think we're off to koorong.

sms exchange

jenny: "hows your relationship with the toilet today?"
howie: "Solid"

oh how i laughed.

today we go to armidale. i'm driving us up. i do hope it is a safe journey. i worry less about my ability than my vulnerability, because of all the other road accidents along the steches of road we will take. it is more worry about the ability of other drivers than of my own. although i am becoming less confident in my ability to drive long distances as i get older. i don't know how my dad has done it for all those years of family holidays.

looking forward to maccas hotspot in armidale. that's when i shall see you next i assume.

You know you grew up in the 1980's if...

(i've bolded whatever it is that i identify with - there's quite a bit)

Cabbage patch kids were legitimate members of your family

You watched the Pound Puppies

You can sing the rap to the "Fresh Prince of BelAir"

You wore biker shorts under your skirts and felt stylish

You yearned to be a member of the Baby Sitter's Club and you even started a club of your own

You owned those lil Strawberry Shortcake pals scented dolls

You know that "WHOA" comes from Joey on Blossom

Two words: M.C. Hammer

You ever watched "Fraggle Rock"

You had plastic streamers on your handlebars

You can sing the entire theme song to "Duck Tales"

When it was actually worth getting up early on a Saturday to watch cartoons

You wore a ponytail on the side of your head

You saw the original "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" on the big screen

You made your mum buy one of those clips that would hold your shirt in a knot on the side

You played the game "MATCH" (Mansion, Apartment, Toilet, Church, House)

You walked like an Egyptian

You wanted to change your name to "JEM" in Kindergarten

You remember reading "Are you there God, it's me, Margaret"

You know the profound meaning of "WAX ON, WAX OFF"

You wanted to be a Goonie

You ever wore fluorescent clothing

You can remember what Michael Jackson looked like before his nose fell off...

You have even pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf

You took Lunch Pails to school

You remember the CRAZE, then the BANNING of slap bracelets

You still get the urge to say "NOT" after every sentence

You remember Hypercolor tshirts

Barbie and the Rockers was your favourite band.

You thought Sheera and HeMan should hook up

You thought your childhood friends would never leave because you exchanged friendship bracelets

You even owned a pair of JellyShoes

After you saw PeeWee's Big Adventure you kept saying "I know you are, but what am I?"

You remember, "I've fallen and I can't get up"

You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates

You ever got seriously injured on a Slip and Slide

You remember when the film clip to "Like A Prayer" was banned

You have even played with a SkipIt

You had or attended a birthday party at McDonalds

You've gone through this nodding your head in agreement

You remember Popples

"Don't worry, be happy"

You wore like, EIGHT pairs of socks over tights with high top Reeboks

You wore socks scrunched down

"Miss MARY MACK MACK MACK, all dressed in BLACK BLACK BLACK"

You remember boom boxes vs. cd players

You remember watching both "Gremlins" movies.

You know what it meant to say "Care Bear Stare!!"

You remember watching Rainbow Bright and My Little Pony Tales

You thought Doogie Howser was hot

You remember Alf, the lil furry brown alien from Melmac!

You remember New Kids on the Block when they were famous

You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By the Bell", the ORIGINAL class

You know all the words to Bon Jovi SHOT THRU THE HEART

You just sang those words to yourself

You cut your tshirts in half and wore it with your homemade Levi shorts...(the shorter the better)

You remember when mullets were cool!

You had a mullet!

You still sing, "We are the World"

orbitBIG

my legs are sore from the fun of OrbitBIG games - too much skipping, twirling, sit uping, star jumping, under and over tables, and lunge-ing for my little body. i swear the floor was going to cave in with all the jumping at the end. fortunately it didn't. good to be reminded that when i ask God for something and don't get it, it's not because he's a big meany dad, but because he has the bigger picture in mind. but still, too often he'll hear me whining "but i want it now!" or "but i neeeeeed it".

For Saturday

Cloudy day with a few light showers or drizzle, chiefly morning and
night. Light to moderate south to southeast winds, freshening in the
afternoon.

Precis Max

Sydney: Light shower or drizzle. 24
Liverpool: Light shower or drizzle 24
Penrith: Light shower or drizzle 25
Richmond: Light shower or drizzle 25

UV Index: 8 [Very High] under cloud.

i'd rather it say "it's fine all day" or "it's raining all day". stupid decision-makingness.
