if you were picking somewhere to have a relatively inexpensive holiday in about may next year, where would you pick (out of these possible options):
~ fiji
~ new zealand
~ vanuatu
~ great barrier reef
~ lord howe island
~ KL
any takers? or other suggestions?
since it doesn't look like there's a family holiday to europe anymore, we're looking a little smaller scale.

great except for the non-expensive bit.

Posted by: Tamara at November 27, 2007 10:53 AMKL.. It's good fun, and cheapish.
Plus trains, monorail, cheap cabs good cheap cinemas, mega shopping malls, theme parks.

Posted by: emily at November 27, 2007 04:09 PMwhere is KL? and i think that you should come to the Gold Coast.
Posted by: bowen at November 28, 2007 12:19 AMIt depends what kind of a holiday you're looking for I guess! Do you want a sunny beach holiday (then Fiji is the go) or do you want more of a seeing beautiful sights, but being cold (then New Zealand is the go). I think Vanuatu is pretty expensive for what you get. Lord Howe isn't very big so I think you'd get bored (please don't stone me if you love Lord Howe). I've never been to KL so I can't comment, but I've been to Thailand and that was pretty cool.
Posted by: Dave at November 28, 2007 08:35 AMI see you have KL listed... I haven't been there but Beck and I went to Thailand for our honeymoon. We had the best time and I'd go back in a flash. Shopping is cheap, accommodation is cheap, food is excellent and cheap and the people are friendly. The flights are the most expensive part.
Posted by: Scott at November 28, 2007 12:17 PMwe did think about SE asia - i've been to thailand before. but howie isn't too keen to go to asia because of his IBS.
but thanks for all the suggestions people. we'll see what happens!

Posted by: prawn at November 28, 2007 10:19 PMThere's always far north NSW - great beaches. But I'd probably go NZ.
