often in our office you'll find some random book on your desk, which someone found in the donations pile, and thinks would be funny for you to see on your desk.
this time it's "so you're gonna be a dad" on howie's desk thanks to steve. now for the record, we aren't planning on kids anytime soon. but it's a funny book, with all kinds of useful and irrelevant information. but i must say the idea of childbirth itself is quite the frightening. damn eve.

Posted by: Will at February 8, 2007 07:14 PMI feel that this attack on feminist is unwarranted and a little bizarre. A feminist would talk about how the capacity of women to go through child birth, proves their superiority or at least equality with men.
Me, I am a post feminist and firm believer in equality but difference. I would say that child birth and this capacity to suffer and then love the child who caused the pain and discomfort is one of the great mysteries of women kind.

I have no problem with equality between sexes, but believe that many femenists (in Western society anyway) have gone beyond seeking equality, and continue to fight a battle they have already won.
So whilst I agree with Femenism as a theory (women having rights equal to those of men), it is the Femenists who have too often taken the theory too far that I protest against.

And too much about women and little girls and infant females raped and battered and imprisoned and oppressed simply because of their gender. It is happenning all over the world and those of us in the West who are ok (and that is certainly not all western women) must not think that the battle is won simply because we are amongst the safe few. May God give us wisdom.
And btw I would rather have a baby than a broken big toe....so it can't be all that bad!
