debbie came home at 5:30pm today. sam dropped her off. he said she had a story to tell. and she indeedly did.
i'll try to recount it - forgetting many of the details.
she and sam had gone to blue mountains at 9:30am this morning. they went for a walk somewhere around scenic railway. about an hour and a half i gather. then back up to some restaurant for lunch. and whilst standing, maybe waiting for a table?, deb suddenly felt sick, and then really tired. now as she told me and tim all this, i interrupted - "and you threw up?". but no she didn't.
deb then fainted. and woke up on the floor, with sam holding her hand. he'd thought she was joking, and had been slapping her face, when the restaurant man told him to put her in the recovery position. apparently the first thing she said was "i'm sorry sam". the restaurant man had already called an ambulance. she'd only been out for a few seconds. but she fell and hit her head pretty hard (i ask, where was sam with the awesome catch?!?!).
anyway, they leave her lying on the floor as they wait for the ambulance. she met a number of new people because of it all. some doctor woman who was in the restaurant. a nice old lady who wanted her moved out of the heat. the restaurant man is adamant not to move her. so 10 mins later the ambulance arrives.
debbie can't actually see straight. see how many fingers. or read signs. so they take her to the hospital. she gets to go in an ambulance! they are nice ambulance people. they prick her finger. sam gets to follow in his car.
she then is in hospital and looked after. the doctor is impressed with the lump on the back of her head from the fall. they prick another finger. her blood pressure is low. her sugar levels are low. her sight slowly returns to normal. they let her go.
the restaurant man or someone rings sam's mobile as they are driving home, to make sure debbie's ok. isn't that nice.
so that's an exciting story for a monday afternoon.
